Photographer Ted Tapner kindly shared these wonderful images of Shad Thames with STRA. He took them on 24 February 1980. Ted told us, "I remember walking around and hearing just my footsteps echoing in the street. I also remember that years after everyone had left the area, I could still smell the spices outside the warehouses."

The final image was taken on 8 June 1985, and shows HMS Olympus preparing to go through Tower Bridge.
